INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts recently issued an apology to Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill and Microsoft. This followed the release of a video during the NFL schedule announcement that didn’t sit well with everyone.
The video, inspired by the popular game Minecraft, featured a dolphin in a Hill jersey being stopped by a U.S. Coast Guard boat. It was intended as light-hearted fun but was quickly taken down due to concerns over its content.
The Colts kick off their season on September 7 against the Dolphins. While many NFL teams create engaging videos to celebrate the schedule release, the Colts’ attempt sparked controversy.
The team explained, “We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek.”
In place of the video, the Colts shared animated logos to showcase this season’s games.
Last September, Hill had an incident with Miami-Dade deputies, leading to a public situation where he was briefly detained. Traffic charges against him were later dropped. However, Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, mentioned that Tyreek found the Colts’ video amusing and accepted the apology, noting he laughed when he first saw it.
