Colts Welcome New Ownership: What This Change Means for Fans and the Future of the Team

Indianapolis – The Indianapolis Colts have announced a new chapter in their ownership following the passing of Jim Irsay. His daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson, are stepping into leadership roles, carrying on the family’s legacy.

All three sisters have been part of the Colts organization as Vice Chair/Owners since 2012. Starting immediately, they will have new titles:

• Irsay-Gordon takes on the role of Owner & CEO. She will be the principal owner while sharing leadership responsibilities with her sisters.
• Foyt becomes Owner & Executive Vice President.
• Jackson becomes Owner & Chief Brand Officer and President of the Indianapolis Colts Foundation.

The Colts are unique in the NFL as a franchise under complete family ownership. The family’s connection dates back to 1972 when Robert Irsay acquired the Baltimore Colts. He later moved the team to Indianapolis in 1984. When Robert passed away in 1997, Jim took over as the sole owner.

During Jim’s time as owner, the Colts thrived. They claimed 10 division championships, two AFC Championships, and won their first Super Bowl in Indianapolis — Super Bowl XLI. They set records, with 115 regular season wins from 2000 to 2009, a high mark for any team in the league.

With Jim’s passing on May 21, 2025, his daughters now lead the team:

• Irsay-Gordon has been deeply involved with the Colts for years. She has a background in psychology and has participated in various NFL committees, advocating for retired players’ welfare.
• Foyt has also spent time with the Colts, focusing on marketing and community efforts. She was instrumental in bringing the first regular season NFL game to London in 2007, showcasing her ability to bridge sports and global events.
• Jackson has a strong community focus, leading initiatives like Kicking The Stigma to address mental health issues. She serves on several boards related to community health and engagement.

The change in ownership comes at a pivotal time for the NFL, where family-led franchises are becoming rare. The Irsay sisters are not just continuing a legacy; they’re also paving the way for future generations, with a strong emphasis on community impact and mental health awareness.
