Columbia Men’s Golf Shines This Season
In the 2025-26 season, Alejandro Formosa made a significant impression by earning Second Team All-Ivy League honors. This recognition is a key highlight for Columbia’s men’s golf team, announced by the league head coaches recently.
Joining Formosa in the spotlight are senior George Rubelsky and first-year Neil Kulkarni, both receiving Honorable Mention All-Ivy League awards. Additionally, senior Darren Pang was honored for his academic excellence, recognized as Academic All-Ivy League with an outstanding GPA of 3.94 in financial economics.
Formosa led the team with a 73.72 stroke average during his rookie season. He showcased his talent by competing in ten tournaments, achieving two top-five finishes and six top-25 finishes. Notably, he was the runner-up in his first collegiate event, the Metropolis Intercollegiate, with an impressive three-round total of 2-over-par 212. As the season progressed, Formosa consistently ranked in the top 25, with standout performances in the spring, including a solo third at the Roar-EE Invitational.
Rubelsky posted a solid 74.00 stroke average, achieving his best performance at the Columbia Autumn Invitational, where he recorded a 6-under-par score. His consistency shone through with multiple top finishes. He capped his career with a top 10 finish at the Ivy League Championship.
Kulkarni impressed in his debut season, achieving a 74.10 stroke average. He led the team with eight top-25 finishes. His best performance was at the Columbia Autumn Invitational, finishing as the runner-up and helping the team secure the title.
Pang showcased both academic and athletic prowess. Along with his academic accolade, he maintained a 74.97 stroke average throughout the season and competed in every tournament, proving his dedication on and off the course.
