Coluxe, a new fine jewellery brand specializing in lab-grown diamonds and vibrant gemstones, has just wrapped up its friends-and-family funding round. The brand, created by Priyanka Gill, aims to bring a fresh touch to everyday luxury for modern Indians.
Prominent investors are backing this vision. Notable figures like Ajai Chowdhry (Co-founder of HCL) and Tej Kapoor from ICICI Ventures have shown their support. This backing highlights a strong belief in Coluxe’s mission to offer sustainable, stylish jewellery accessible to more consumers.
Coluxe is at the forefront of a significant change in Indian jewellery trends. Traditionally, gold has been king in India’s $80 billion market. Yet, only about 6% of gold jewellery buyers have even one diamond piece. Coluxe addresses this gap with modular jewellery made from certified lab-grown diamonds. These pieces can be easily combined and stacked, catering to a growing desire for self-expression and daily wear.
Priyanka Gill emphasizes the importance of this shift: “Lab-grown diamonds are unlocking access in a market where only 6% of gold jewellery buyers own a single diamond. At the same time, women are self-purchasing and seeking jewellery that reflects their identity, not just tradition.”
The brand’s approach allows customers to creatively style their jewellery, making it ideal for personal use and gifting. Its limited-edition Rakhi collection, launched via WhatsApp, sold out quickly, showcasing the demand for modern, digital-first jewellery.
Coluxe plans to use this funding to launch an online store in August. This site will feature over 300 pieces, including rings, earrings, and bracelets, along with themed collections focused on zodiac signs and meaningful gift options. By leveraging e-commerce, Coluxe hopes to make fine jewellery more accessible to urban Indian women, emphasizing sustainable luxury that resonates with their personal style.
The growing interest in lab-grown diamonds reflects broader trends toward sustainability in various markets. According to a recent report by the International Gemological Institute, consumer preference for environmentally friendly products is on the rise. As Coluxe continues to introduce innovative designs, it stands ready to redefine fine jewellery for a new generation—one unique stackable piece at a time.
