NEW BRAUNFELS – Comal County and New Braunfels have recently highlighted the efforts of local districts in promoting Career and Technical Education (C-T-E) programs. These initiatives give students hands-on experience across various fields, helping them prepare for careers after graduation.
The C-T-E programs in the Comal and New Braunfels Independent School Districts open up a world of opportunities. Students can explore careers ranging from advanced manufacturing to healthcare.
Mike Crowley, Vice President of Workforce and Industry Relations for the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, noted that students can find internships and earn certifications in fields like phlebotomy, radiology, and robotics. These credentials serve as a practical alternative to the traditional college route, allowing students to step directly into the workforce after high school.
“Not everyone’s college-bound,” Crowley said. “These programs create direct paths into industry and help students secure well-paying jobs.”
As Comal County grows, the need for skilled workers becomes more crucial. Local leaders, including Comal County Commissioner Scott Haag, emphasized the importance of trained professionals to the community’s economy.
“There are many jobs in trades like plumbing and welding that are needed every day,” Haag said. “These programs meet the needs of individuals and provide excellent job opportunities.”
With an economic boom on the horizon, local officials agree that the future lies in the classroom. These valuable C-T-E programs are shaping the workforce of tomorrow by equipping students with the skills they need.
“The Chamber is heavily involved because this is vital for our economy’s growth,” Crowley added.
