Comcast Pledges $60,000 to Combat Food Insecurity in the Bay Area: Here’s How It Will Help Our Community

As the holiday season draws near, many families face the tough challenge of putting healthy meals on the table. This time of year is all about coming together, and Comcast is stepping up to help. They recently provided $30,000 each to two local organizations—Samaritan House and Second Harvest of Silicon Valley—to support food access for those in need.

“When local leaders highlighted food insecurity as a pressing issue, we immediately reached out to Samaritan House and Second Harvest,” said Zenia Zaveri, Vice President of External Affairs at Comcast California. “Holidays can be especially tough for families, and we’re proud to be part of the community.”

Shobana Gubbi, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Second Harvest, praised the impact of Comcast’s gift, stating, “This support helps us reach our network of 400 nonprofits and more than 900 sites. Families can access nutritious meals right in their neighborhoods.”

Laura Bent, CEO of Samaritan House, expressed gratitude for Comcast’s timely support. “They recognized the need and came forward to help. These funds will make a real difference for families striving for a joyful holiday season.”

In addition to these contributions, Comcast also recently donated $15,000 to the San Bruno Firefighters Association for their Holiday Toy Program and $50,000 to the San Bruno Education Foundation. Over the last three years, Comcast has invested over $130 million in California through cash and donations.

This effort reflects a growing trend among corporations to engage in community support, especially during difficult times. A recent survey showed that 76% of consumers prefer brands that contribute to social causes. This connection can create brand loyalty, which is especially vital for companies in competitive markets.
