Commissioner Noorzai Calls for Collective Action to Address Climate Change

DERA MURAD JAMALI, June 3: Commissioner of Naseerabad Division Salahuddin Noorzai emphasized the need for collective action against climate change during a ceremony for World Environment Day at the Circuit House in Dera Murad Jamali. He noted that Pakistan, particularly Balochistan, is increasingly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Naseerabad Captain (Retd.) Zulfiqar Ali Karar, SSP Naseerabad Asad Nasir, District Health Officer Dr. Ayaz Jamali, and other officials from various departments.

As part of the observance, the Forest Department initiated a tree plantation campaign to promote environmental awareness and public participation in afforestation. Participants received information on environmental conservation and the challenges posed by climate change.

Commissioner Noorzai highlighted the urgency for coordinated measures to address rising temperatures, droughts, floods, and other climate-related issues. He recognized World Environment Day as an opportunity to raise awareness about pollution control and the responsible use of natural resources.

Deputy Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Karar stated that a clean environment is a basic right for all citizens. He called for collective responsibility, emphasizing large-scale tree plantation, water conservation, and pollution reduction.

SSP Asad Nasir and other speakers stressed the importance of collaboration between public institutions and local communities to combat environmental degradation and climate change. They highlighted the need to protect forests and water resources for future generations.

The ceremony concluded with participants committing to work collaboratively for environmental conservation and a greener Balochistan.
