Led by President Bella Egress, the club made an early start on April 23. Bella was inspired by her father’s long-standing involvement with the Rotary. She wanted to bring that sense of community service to Conard High School, emphasizing the motto “service above self.” She believes it’s vital for students to prioritize helping others.

Junior Jayme Kline joined the club to give back to her school community. She noted the importance of service opportunities accessible to all students, making it easier to get involved and make a difference.

Conard Principal Jocelyn Tamborello-Noble expressed her appreciation for the collaboration between students and rotary members. She highlighted that this event marked one of the largest donations to the West Hartford Town That Cares Fund. “The dedication shown by our students reflects a commitment to serving and caring for the community,” she said. “It’s a true testament to their character and values.”

Community service is more than just volunteering; it helps build connections and fosters a sense of belonging. According to a recent survey by the National Service Agency, 62% of Americans feel more engaged in their communities when they participate in service activities. This demonstrates the broader impact that initiatives like the Conard Interact Rotary Club can have beyond just meeting immediate needs.

This partnership not only benefits those in need but also cultivates leadership skills among the students involved. Engaging with the community in such meaningful ways allows young people to witness firsthand the difference they can make. Overall, the work of the Conard Interact Rotary Club is a shining example of community spirit in action.
