SHREVEPORT, Louisiana. – The Concordia Texas women’s soccer team delivered an impressive performance with a 2-0 win over Centenary College at Atkins Field. Shelby Jones and Avery Walker scored, helping the team secure their fifth conference victory of the season, with Emma Payne assisting on one of the goals.

From the start, the Tornados dominated possession. They made an early impact with eight shots in the first half and earned three corner kicks. Gabrielle Kessler created the first opportunity just three minutes in, while Kayla Yancey almost scored in the 9th minute, forcing a save from the Centenary keeper. Centenary managed to respond, leading to a save from Concordia’s goalkeeper, Lemontraja Roberts.

In the 35th minute, a precise pass from Payne found Jones, who scored her first goal of the season. Concordia continued to press throughout the first half, with both Payne and Oberholtzer challenging the Centenary defense before halftime.

The second half mirrored the first, with Concordia maintaining pressure. They outshot Centenary 7-1 in this period. Walker sealed the game in the 82nd minute, scoring her second goal of the season from a solo run. The Tornados’ defense was solid, limiting Centenary to just three shots and securing a clean sheet. Roberts was sharp, making two key saves during the match.
