Concordia University Texas Softball Secures Victorious Series Against St. Thomas: Highlights & Insights

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team celebrated a successful day by winning both games against St. Thomas in a doubleheader. The scores were 9-2 in the first game and 4-3 in the second.

GAME ONE: W, 9-2

In the first game, the Tornados jumped ahead quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning thanks to RBIs from Molly Olivarez, Kylie Kirk, and Addison Lehew. They added another run in the third when Grace Coleman hit an RBI single, bringing Harley Drouillard home.

The Celts struck back in the fifth inning, scoring two runs to narrow the gap. However, Concordia responded with three insurance runs in the seventh inning, driven in by Kirk and Lehew, along with a run from an error that allowed Caylee Spangle to score. The final nail in the coffin came from a Kylie Pavlicek RBI, bringing Taylor Smrt home for the last run of the game.

GAME TWO: W, 4-3

The second game started with St. Thomas scoring two runs in the first inning. Concordia quickly closed the gap to 2-1 when Christian Everett singled, allowing Lehew to score. The Tornados tied it up in the third when Olivarez brought Kylie Denaro home.

St. Thomas regained the lead with another run in the third inning. After both teams went scoreless in the fourth and fifth, CONCORDIA tied the game in the sixth. A sacrifice fly from Kylie Pavlicek scored Ariana Murray. Then, with some smart base running, Everett dashed home to give Concordia the lead.
