Recently, three restaurants in South Florida had to shut down after inspectors found serious health code violations, including pests and unsanitary conditions.

First up, Paul’s Fresh Bakery in the Sawgrass Mills Mall, Sunrise, faced two closures. The issues? A major problem with flying insects, expired food, and poor food storage practices. Inspectors reported finding numerous flying insects landing on food displays and around preparation areas, which is concerning for any eatery. They also found expired products and raw food improperly stored with prepared items. After a thorough cleanup, the bakery was allowed to reopen.

Alegria by El Rancherito in Doral was ordered shut after inspectors found both live and dead roaches, along with food storage issues and cleanliness problems. This location had a staggering 28 violations, including evidence of active pest problems and dirty surfaces in food preparation areas. Even after a cleanup, the restaurant had further inspections with ongoing issues. They eventually managed to reopen but are under close watch.

Marin Kitchen Cafe in Westchester also faced shutdown after an inspection revealed roaches and moldy food. They had 10 violations, which included live roaches, moldy pork in their coolers, and food stored at unsafe temperatures. After addressing these issues, they were permitted to reopen as well.

All three restaurants show the importance of maintaining health standards. It’s crucial for food establishments to stay vigilant about cleanliness and proper food handling to ensure the safety of their customers.
