Connor Storrie made his debut on Saturday Night Live last week, and the excitement was palpable. The 26-year-old actor entered the stage to cheers, missing the cold open about Trump.
In his monologue, he humorously referenced his show, Heated Rivalry, saying, “It’s taught a lot of straight women that their sexuality is actually gay men.” He shared how emotional he was about being on the show, saying he had cried when he got the news. Storrie brought out hockey stars Quinn and Jack Hughes, along with Hilary Knight and Megan Keller, for a fun segment.
They engaged in some playful banter, particularly about a viral video where the men’s hockey team laughed along with Trump. Knight and Keller reminded everyone that while the men’s team last won over 40 years ago, the women’s team had won two Olympics ago, adding a pinch of humor to the serious discussion.
Storrie’s co-star Hudson Williams surprised viewers by appearing in a sketch set on the 30 Rock skating rink. Their chemistry was evident as they acted through a humorous rejected proposal. The audience loved it, especially when Williams slid onto the ice and cheered with Storrie as they introduced musical guests Mumford & Sons.
Storrie and Williams often express how the making of Heated Rivalry has strengthened their friendship, making them feel lucky in their careers. Williams shared, “I have one of my best friends for life right beside me through it all.”
The lead-up to Storrie’s debut included teasers from SNL, featuring funny skits and a blooper reel highlighting his journey. This appearance comes shortly after their success in Heated Rivalry, which revolves around the complex relationship between two professional hockey players.
This show, airing on Crave and HBO Max, is based on romance novels by Rachel Reid and has skyrocketed Storrie and Williams to fame. They were recently seen presenting at the Golden Globes and participating in the Olympic Torch Relay.
Both actors are on the rise, with Storrie in talks for a role in A24’s comedy Peaked, while Williams will team up with Crave again for the series Yaga. Early in the first season, Heated Rivalry was renewed for a second season, with filming set to begin this summer, aiming for a spring 2027 release.
To add to the hype, Rachel Reid announced the upcoming release of her seventh book in the Game Changers series, titled Unrivaled, which continues the story of Shane and Ilya. The book is now set for a 2027 release.
Looking ahead, Ryan Gosling is set to host next week’s episode of SNL, with musical guest Gorillaz, followed by Harry Styles on March 14 as both host and musical guest.
