Cooper University Health Care recently announced the appointment of Dr. Autum Shingler-Nace as the chief nursing officer for Cooper University Hospital. This news came out on July 23.
In her new role, Shingler-Nace will supervise the nursing practice and improve patient care quality. She will continue overseeing perioperative and procedural operations and will report to Kathy Devine, the senior vice president and chief nursing executive.
Shingler-Nace joined Cooper in October 2023 as the vice president of perioperative and procedural operations. Since then, she has worked alongside medical and nursing teams to boost operational efficiency and strategic planning. Notably, she was involved in developing the Cooper Surgery Center at Moorestown.
With nearly 20 years in healthcare, Shingler-Nace has gathered extensive experience in both hospitals and outpatient settings. She has held leadership roles at Thomas Jefferson University Health in Philadelphia and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Cooper University Health Care, linked to Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, operates multiple facilities in Camden, including the flagship 663-bed hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and a children’s hospital. They focus on community health while providing advanced medical care.
Healthcare is evolving rapidly. According to a recent survey by the American Nurses Association, more than half of nurses reported burnout during the pandemic. Now more than ever, strong leadership in nursing can make a difference in staff satisfaction and patient outcomes. Dr. Shingler-Nace’s experience could play a key role in addressing these challenges and enhancing nursing practices across the system.
As healthcare grows more complex, leaders like Shingler-Nace are crucial for guiding teams toward better efficiency and care. Cooper University Health Care stands to benefit from her vision and experience in transforming healthcare practices.
