Could Christian Watson, Zach Tom, and Evan Williams Make a Comeback Against the Bears? Here’s What We Know!

GREEN BAY – The Packers have lost defensive star Micah Parsons for the season, but they remain hopeful about other injured players ahead of their rematch with the Bears.

Among those players are receiver Christian Watson, right tackle Zach Tom, and safety Evan Williams. Head Coach Matt LaFleur stated that their availability will be decided based on how they feel by the end of the week.

“We have a lot of injuries to consider, so we need to sort things out in the coming days,” LaFleur explained. He believes every player will push hard to make it for the game.

Watson’s injury happened when Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II landed on him during a pass interception. Initially, it seemed serious, and he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, tests showed no long-term issues with his chest and shoulder. Still, LaFleur noted that Watson’s participation hinges on his pain tolerance and ability to function.

Tom and Williams are dealing with knee injuries, but they are not considered severe. If they can’t play, LaFleur hasn’t revealed who would step in. However, during the game against the Broncos, Darian Kinnard filled in for Tom, and Zayne Anderson took Williams’ spot. The Packers could also turn to options like 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan or move slot corner Javon Bullard to bolster the defense.

Running back Josh Jacobs also faced challenges in the last game, sustaining a hit on his injured knee. He managed to produce 92 yards from scrimmage and scored two touchdowns. Jacobs had missed practices the week before to rest his injury, and LaFleur mentioned that had it been a regular practice day, he likely wouldn’t have played.

Despite the injury challenges and the adjustments needed on defense without Parsons, the Packers maintain a positive outlook for the Bears game.

This game is critical since first place in the NFC North is at stake, similar to their last matchup at Lambeau Field where they secured a thrilling victory. LaFleur emphasized that there’s no time for disappointment or distractions, especially with such an important game upcoming.

“The show goes on,” LaFleur said. “We must adapt and have a solid plan. This is an opportunity for others to step up and show what they can do, and there’s a lot of excitement about that.”
