Could Grand Theft Auto 6 Break the 0 Barrier? Analyst Predicts Unprecedented Price for Take-Two’s Next Hit!

Rumor has it that Take-Two might sell Grand Theft Auto 6 for a staggering price of “$100 or more” each.

This insight comes from Michael Pachter, managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities.

Pachter shared his thoughts on Take-Two’s strategy for the much-anticipated game in a research note this week.

He believes the company is aiming for a price point not seen before. He suggests that Take-Two could entice players to spend over $100 by offering generous in-game currency to use in GTA Online.

Pachter pointed out that this isn’t new; Activision tried something similar with Call of Duty. They successfully tied premium games to online experiences, boosting sales by 40%.

Take-Two could see a similar outcome. If they combine GTA Online and GTA VI effectively, a $100 price tag might just work.

This idea of a $100 price tag isn’t new. There have been talks that other game developers are eyeing this range for GTA 6. This could encourage more companies to increase their game prices, too.

Back in August 2020, Take-Two made headlines when NBA 2K21 became the first current-gen game to carry a $70 price tag, prompting other publishers to follow.

Recently, Take-Two announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold over 210 million copies since its launch in 2013. It quickly broke records by generating $1 billion in sales faster than any other entertainment release.

On Tuesday, Rockstar launched an updated version of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC, bringing new features and enhancements.

Looking ahead, Rockstar is preparing to release Grand Theft Auto 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with the game set to debut in the fall of 2025.
