Three Rivers District Council is making strides towards a greener future with its recent solar panel installation at South Oxhey Leisure Centre. Working with Geo Green Power, the council added 320 solar modules to the center’s rooftop.
These panels are expected to produce about 133,000 kWh of clean energy each year. That’s enough electricity to power around 49 average homes in the UK annually. Importantly, this move will also cut carbon emissions by about 25 tonnes per year, aligning with broader climate goals.
Joanna Hewitson, the council’s Climate Change and Sustainability Manager, shared her excitement: “It’s great to see South Oxhey Leisure Centre taking this step alongside William Penn Leisure Centre. Over the next 30 years, these panels are projected to save nearly £475,000 in energy costs, with a payback period of just five years.”
