In meetings with senior police officials, Singh highlighted the swift spread of digital content. He stressed that these media can rapidly promote dangerous ideals, especially among impressionable youth. This crackdown isn’t just about law enforcement; it’s a broader social initiative aiming to combat cultural messages that glamorize criminal behavior.
Earlier this year, Haryana Police launched a campaign to investigate and remove songs that promote gun culture and violence. Their cybercrime unit is closely monitoring social media platforms for this content, working to have it removed swiftly. So far, several objectionable music videos have been taken down.
Singh also expressed concern about the trend of portraying gangsters as “folk heroes.” By doing so, these artists risk creating a distorted admiration for crime. He urged police to look deeper—examining not just the artists, but everyone involved in promoting these troubling narratives.
This move comes alongside Operation Trackdown, a major anti-crime initiative started in November 2025. So far, this operation has led to the arrest of over 4,500 individuals involved in organized crime, helping disrupt numerous criminal networks. Reports suggest that this initiative may have saved around 60 lives.
Singh has emphasized that upholding the law is essential in a democratic society. He urged officers to handle cases rigorously, ensuring offenders understand the serious legal ramifications of promoting a gangster lifestyle.
