The countdown is on for the 2026 FIFA World Cup! Miami is preparing to host around 600,000 fans next summer, and there’s much work to be done to make it a memorable experience.

Leading these efforts is Alina Hudak, the president and CEO of the Miami Host Committee. With over 40 years in local government, Hudak is dedicated to ensuring Miami shines as a host city.

“I’ve been a sports fan my whole life,” she shared. “Sports unite people, and being part of this event excites me.” Hudak believes this is a great chance for the community to connect through sports and engagement.

In a recent conversation, she discussed her journey and vision for Miami. Her extensive experience in Miami-Dade County and Miami Beach positions her uniquely to highlight the city’s rich culture while managing the logistical challenges of the World Cup.

“This role feels like a legacy moment for our community,” Hudak explained. “I’m excited about the opportunity for everyone in South Florida to get involved, whether through participation, volunteering, or simply enjoying the festivities.”

Hudak emphasized the importance of fan engagement, noting that many visitors won’t have tickets but still want to experience the excitement. She wants to create events that welcome both fans and locals, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the tournament.

With 48 teams competing in 104 games across 16 cities in North America, Miami aims to stand out. “We’re Miami, and our city has so much to offer,” Hudak said, highlighting the diversity and vibrancy that define the area.

As the event approaches, Miami will host several community celebrations and build excitement leading up to the games. “Planning is crucial, and the time will fly by,” she added.
