The son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Hoiby, is facing serious legal troubles. He was already on trial for four counts of rape and other crimes when new charges were added. The most recent indictment includes a significant narcotics offense concerning an incident from 2020 where 3.5 kilograms of marijuana were involved. Hoiby has admitted to this crime, as stated by Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo.
Hoiby was arrested on August 4, 2024, after allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend. He plans to plead guilty to some lesser charges but denies the more serious accusations, including the rapes, claiming he was under the influence of substances during these incidents.
The upcoming trial, set to begin on February 3, will see the Oslo district court take a closer look at the details surrounding these allegations. Hoiby has previously described his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, saying they influenced his actions.
