Charleston, S.C. – The Miami University tennis team faced a tough challenge against Charleston Southern University, losing the match 4-1. The RedHawks kicked things off strong in doubles play. Emilia Valentinsson and Sara Zalukar in the No. 1 spot, along with Catherine Denysiewicz-Slowek and Malu Oliveira in No. 2, both snagged wins to secure the doubles point for Miami. However, singles play turned in favor of Charleston Southern, who clinched the first four points, securing victory before Miami could finish all the matches.
In doubles action, here’s how it went down:
1. Emilia Valentinsson/Sara Zalukar (Miami) defeated Noa Boyd/Amila Jusufbegovic (CSU), 6-4.
2. Catherine Denysiewicz-Slowek/Malu Oliveira (Miami) took down Kassandra Di/Marina Skegro (CSU), 6-3.
3. CSU’s Emmie Moore/Brenda Yoris won against Nishitha Saravanan/Lauren Joyce (Miami), 6-1.
Moving into singles, the RedHawks faced some strong competition:
1. Emmie Moore (CSU) was leading Catherine Denysiewicz-Slowek (Miami) when their match was left unfinished at 4-6, 6-1, 4-3.
2. Marina Skegro (CSU) came from behind to defeat Sara Zalukar (Miami), 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
3. Noa Boyd (CSU) took down Emilia Valentinsson (Miami), 6-3, 7-5.
4. Nishitha Saravanan (Miami) was in a tight match against Amila Jusufbegovic (CSU) when it was left unfinished at 3-6, 7-5, 1-0.
5. Brenda Yoris (CSU) overcame Lauren Joyce (Miami), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
6. Carle Botha (CSU) defeated Malu Oliveira (Miami) in a tough contest, 0-6, 6-3, 6-2.
