Cynthia Erivo Overcomes Voice Loss with Help from Ariana Grande at ‘Wicked: For Good’ Red Carpet – Exclusive Interview Insights

Ariana Grande showed her support for co-star Cynthia Erivo at the “Wicked: For Good” premiere in New York. Despite losing her voice, Erivo joined Grande for the event, although they avoided interviews at first. The two stars did, however, share a light moment on an official livestream.

During the chat, Grande, holding the microphone, joked, “I’m not letting her speak. She has to rest her voice!” This brought smiles from Erivo, who was present but unable to talk much.

The pair also discussed their Grammy nomination for best pop duo/group performance for their rendition of “Defying Gravity.” Grande expressed pride in Erivo’s upcoming solo projects, “Simply More,” a new album and book.

When asked about their feelings as the “Wicked” journey comes to a close, Grande mentioned experiencing “overwhelming gratitude.” She said, “It’s been an incredible ride,” highlighting the joy of working with talented people who are also kind-hearted.

Erivo added, “It’s really beautiful that we’re finishing here, where it started.” She was referring to New York City, where the original “Wicked” musical debuted in 2003.

Their press tour has been eventful, to say the least. Recently, Grande faced a scare when she was approached by an intruder during an event in Singapore, leading to the intruder being sentenced to nine days in jail.

Though they didn’t discuss that incident, Grande acknowledged how exhausting the promotional schedule has been. “There’s only so much the human body can endure,” she remarked, emphasizing that Erivo was taking it easy.

As fans await the release of “Wicked: For Good” on Friday, the warm camaraderie between Grande and Erivo is evident. Their journey from Broadway to film continues to touch audiences everywhere, blending hard work with heartfelt moments.
