LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nathan Chasing Horse, known for his role in “Dances With Wolves,” has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual assaults on Indigenous women and girls. The jury convicted him on 13 charges, primarily linked to the assaults of three women.
In court, victims shared their painful experiences. Corena Leone-LaCroix, one of the survivors, described the deep scars left by Chasing Horse. “My childhood was taken from me,” she said. She was only 14 when he assaulted her, claiming it was part of a spiritual necessity.
Chasing Horse, who wore a detention center uniform during the hearing, showed little emotion as the victims spoke. He remains adamant about his innocence and will be eligible for parole after 37 years.
Judge Jessica Peterson condemned his actions, saying, “You manipulated their trust for your own gain.” The courtroom erupted in applause when the sentence was announced, as many felt justice was served.
