Dancing with the Stars: A Season to Remember
This season of Dancing with the Stars really stood out. It scored the highest finale viewership in nine years, attracting 9.24 million viewers. This is a significant jump from last season’s 6.37 million. Robert Irwin and Witney Carson walked away with the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, making a memorable mark in the show’s history.
The ratings were impressive among adults aged 18-49, hitting a 2.15 rating. This is the best number in this demo since 2015. In fact, the finale saw an 89% increase compared to last season’s ratings.
It’s no surprise that the show’s popularity is soaring. The Disney-owned network even took a jab at rivals CBS and NBC, highlighting that their finale pulled in more adult viewers in one night than CBS’s entire weekly schedule.
Another milestone? ABC achieved its strongest audience among adults 18-34 since 2011. This demographic showed a 53% share, the best since the finale of Friends in 2004.
Throughout the season, viewership steadily increased. Notably, ratings rose for two consecutive weeks after the season premiere—an achievement this show hadn’t seen in 20 years. A highlight of the season was a Wicked-themed episode that drew a lot of attention.
Fan engagement was off the charts too. During the finale, more than 72 million votes were cast, marking a 31% increase from the semifinals and over a 125% rise from last year’s finale. In total, almost half a billion votes were submitted throughout the season.
The show’s success indicates a growing interest in live television and talent competitions, a trend seen in other shows and formats. As social media plays a huge role in how fans engage, the excitement around this season emphasizes the power of community and connection.
The stats are telling. While other networks struggle, Dancing with the Stars has found a formula that resonates with viewers. It has combined engaging performances, exciting themes, and an interactive audience experience. As trends shift, it seems this beloved show has found a way to stay relevant and entertaining.
