Daring Underwater Discovery: Divers Uncover 450+ Pounds of Cocaine Concealed Beneath Ship Heading to Europe, Reports Colombia’s Navy

Colombian divers recently made a significant discovery: over 450 pounds of cocaine hidden beneath a ship set to sail for Europe. This operation, conducted by the navy, took place at a Pacific coast port and was detailed in a social media update.

During the dive, teams from the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station found seven sealed bags filled with the narcotics. Photos shared by the navy show the divers retrieving the drugs and dozens of packages displayed on the ground.

This seizure follows a major operation last week when the navy confiscated more than seven tons of drugs from two speedboats and a semi-submersible vessel, often referred to as a “narco sub.” Officials reported images and videos showing the drugs on board as suspects were taken into custody.

The growing drug trafficking issue has led to rising tensions between the U.S. and Colombia. Recently, the Trump administration sanctioned Colombian President Gustavo Petro and his family, accusing him of enabling drug cartels. In an interview with CBS News, he expressed frustration, stating, “Killing the business’ workers is easy. But if you want to be effective, you have to capture the bosses.”

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) notes that approximately 90% of cocaine entering the U.S. originates from Colombia. This staggering statistic highlights the country’s ongoing struggles with drug trafficking.
