Recently, students from Day Mountain Regional Middle School joined forces to support their local community. They organized a food drive and collected a variety of food items from families and friends. After gathering the donations, the students walked to Faith Works Community Outreach, the local food pantry, to deliver the goods. Each student carried at least one item, making the journey from the school to the food pantry, which is located where Beal’s General Store once stood.
Faith Works Community Outreach is dedicated to helping those in need. Previously known as B.E.A.L.S, which stands for “Bringing Everyone a Lasting Solution,” this nonprofit organization provides essential services like a food pantry, recovery programs, and disaster relief efforts. Their goal is to assist people facing financial struggles while ensuring they maintain their dignity and privacy. They aim to empower individuals to become self-sufficient and support them with emotional and spiritual healing.
The vision of Faith Works is simple yet powerful: to nourish both the body and soul, offer guidance for those feeling lost, and share love and compassion within the community.
As part of their mission, the food pantry operates on specified days: Mondays from 12 PM to 2 PM, Tuesdays from 5 PM to 7 PM, and Fridays from 10 AM to 12 PM. But this is just one of the many services they offer.
Some programs include:
- Life’s Healing Choices: This is a ten-week recovery program for adults, offered twice a year, once in September and again in March. It features separate groups for men and women, ensuring a safe and confidential space.
- Disaster Relief: Faith Works partners with organizations like the United Way and the Red Cross to assist during emergencies. They provide essential resources and support to those affected by disasters.
The community is encouraged to get involved, whether through volunteering, donating food, or contributing financially to support their efforts. Together, they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
