ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team celebrated its sixth consecutive victory, defeating Ohio 7-4 in their latest matchup.
The Flyers have been impressive this season, improving to 7-2 and wrapping up February on a strong note.
Dayton quickly took the lead, going 4-3 in the first inning with notable contributions from Dyrenson Wouters and Michael Smith Jr., who both delivered key RBI singles. In the second inning, Wouters extended the lead with a double, while Martin Howell added another run with a single to right field.
The game remained scoreless until the eighth inning when Bobby Stang stepped up with a single that allowed Tommy Ahlers Jr. and Howell to score. Smith Jr. then capitalized on a wild pitch to bring Dayton’s total to seven runs.
Michael Fortes earned his second win of the season, while Lucas Collins secured the save.
