Chicago, June 2, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — On June 1, Deanne Brandstetter, an experienced registered dietitian, began her term as President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the largest organization for food and nutrition professionals globally.

Brandstetter has over 30 years in the nutrition field and recently retired from her role at Compass Group North America, where she coordinated wellness programs for clients. Her goal is to make nutritious and sustainable food options more accessible for all.

During her presidency, she aims to tackle significant nutrition and health challenges in the U.S. Initiatives such as “Food as Medicine” and the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act will help people access healthier foods, essential for managing both acute and chronic diseases. Brandstetter emphasizes that good nutrition can lead to better health outcomes, stating, “Positive health outcomes and accessible nutrition go hand in hand.”

Her background is impressive. She played a key role in developing the nutrition program for the 2002 Winter Olympics and has received multiple awards, including a Silver Medal for Healthy Cuisine from the American Culinary Federation. Brandstetter has served various roles within the Academy, contributing to sustainable food systems and menu labeling efforts.
