Decades Ago, Jeffrey Epstein Accuser Implored FBI to Examine Trump's Ties

An artist named Maria Farmer first accused Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell of sexual assault nearly 30 years ago. In a recent interview, she told the New York Times that she urged law enforcement to investigate powerful figures linked to Epstein, including Donald Trump.

Farmer was among the earliest women to come forward about Epstein’s crimes back in 1996. She mentioned Trump during both her initial report and a follow-up meeting with the FBI in 2006. This was fueled by an unsettling encounter she had with him in 1995 at Epstein’s offices, which she had reported to police at that time.

She has often reflected on how her claims were treated by law enforcement and has questioned their handling of her complaints both then and later.

In 2008, Epstein reached a controversial deal that allowed him to avoid harsher federal charges. He pleaded guilty to lesser state offenses, only to die by suicide in a prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial for serious charges. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking in 2022.

Farmer’s account suggests Trump’s name may be in undisclosed Epstein documents, stirring significant reactions among his supporters. Any evidence of Farmer’s attempts to bring Epstein’s associates to light could create problems for Trump, who has tried to distance himself from Epstein’s legacy. The Epstein files are thought to contain unexamined records, including testimonies and evidence that did not lead to prosecutions.

So far, law enforcement has not accused Trump of wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, and he has not been named as a target in any investigation. The White House has pushed back against Farmer’s claims, denying that Trump had any ties with Epstein in the last several years.

Trump’s relationship with Epstein is under renewed scrutiny, especially after his former Attorney General and FBI Director stepped back from their commitments to release Epstein’s investigative files. In response to the controversy, Trump has called for transparency, asserting he has nothing to hide.

Farmer, who worked with Epstein in the mid-90s, recalls being in her early twenties. During her time, she oversaw the comings and goings of girls, young women, and celebrities in Epstein’s home. One night, after working in running shorts, she felt uncomfortable when Trump arrived in a suit and made comments about her appearance, including a remark suggesting she looked very young.

The White House responded by stating that Trump distanced himself from Epstein long ago. A spokesperson claimed that Trump even banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club for inappropriate behavior.

In 2002, Trump had publicly referred to Epstein as a “terrific guy,” though he later distanced himself, claiming they had not been friends for many years. When Epstein died, Trump spread conspiracy theories linking former President Bill Clinton to Epstein’s demise, a claim that Clinton has denied.

As Trump campaigns for the 2024 election, he has hinted at releasing federal files on Epstein to quell growing pressure from supporters who suspect a broader cover-up.

Recent reports highlight the heated debate over Epstein-related documents. An article from the Wall Street Journal revealed that Trump once sent Epstein a suggestive birthday greeting, which Trump labeled as a hoax and responded to with defamation lawsuits against the news organization.

The complexities surrounding Epstein’s case and Trump’s past connections illustrate a tangled web of powerful figures and troubling accusations that continue to unfold, capturing public interest and scrutiny in the process.
