Mark Cameron, the Managing Director of Defender, expressed confidence in the Octa’s capabilities. He remarked that competing in such demanding events will test the vehicle to its limits. He believes that the Defender Octa melds high performance with its classic durability, making it ideal for tough rally-raid challenges.

James Barclay, Managing Director of JLR Motorsport, shared his enthusiasm as well. He described the opportunity to compete in Dakar as thrilling and emphasized the importance of collaboration with other automotive leaders to establish new regulations that benefit production vehicles in the rally. He noted that this upcoming year will be crucial for preparation, testing, and learning as they gear up for the 2026 challenges.

Dakar and FIA recognize the growing interest in 4×4 SUVs in rally competitions, prompting the introduction of new performance regulations. The Defender Octa stands out with its robust DX7 body architecture and a body-on-frame design that is three times stronger, providing impressive stability and resilience.
