In today’s Delhi legislative assembly, a significant event took place: the unveiling of portraits honoring former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and education pioneer Madan Mohan Malaviya. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the ceremony, attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, and others.

A special coffee table book titled ‘Bharat Mata’ was also introduced to celebrate 150 years since the creation of our national song, ‘Vande Mataram.’

During her speech, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the importance of this moment. She emphasized that both Vajpayee and Malaviya represent values like integrity and public welfare. Malaviya, in particular, is remembered for his contributions to education and the freedom movement. His founding of Banaras Hindu University stands as a lasting legacy of his commitment to learning and national pride.

Gupta referred to Vajpayee as a “statesman of an era,” noting how his vision laid the groundwork for India’s growth and unity. She expressed hope that the ‘Bharat Mata’ book would inspire students, researchers, and policymakers alike.

In a nod to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gupta shared that the Delhi government is dedicated to the vision of a developed India by 2047.

This event not only honors these two prominent figures but also serves as a reminder of India’s ongoing journey towards progress and unity. By recognizing historical contributions, we can inspire future generations to continue striving for a stronger nation.

Statistics show that initiatives in education have a ripple effect, boosting economic growth. According to a recent report by the World Bank, every additional year of schooling can increase a person’s income by up to 10%. This connection highlights the importance of Malaviya’s vision in shaping a more educated society.
