New Delhi Blast Investigation: Key Insights on Terror Threats
The recent bomb blast in Delhi has led investigators to a disturbing find: a terror network linked to the Faridabad module. This network reportedly involves a group of doctors who were radicalized through two Telegram channels named Farzandan-e-Darul Uloom (Deoband) and Umar bin Khattab. The conversations in these groups initially touched on issues like Kashmir’s independence but quickly escalated to global jihad.
Dr. Umar Nabi, along with colleagues Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen, is part of a small group of about ten individuals believed to be involved in planning attacks. Allegations indicate that they used their medical expertise to gather materials for making explosives and coordinating operations for their network. Authorities found that the group aimed to carry out attacks similar to the infamous 2008 Mumbai attacks. Key sites in Delhi, including the Red Fort and India Gate, were on their target list, as well as major railway stations and shopping centers across India.
In the wake of this threat, Indian security agencies have ramped up investigations along the West Bengal border, particularly after the Red Fort blast. They’re actively probing ISI-backed Bangladeshi groups like HuJI, ABT, JMB, and HuT, which are suspected of trying to infiltrate India. Over the past three years, the Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted 2,688 infiltrators from Bangladesh. Intelligence suggests that ISI has urged these groups to unite and reactivate sleeper cells.
Security concerns have increased following comments from Lashkar commander Saifullah Saif, who claimed that a key aide of Hafiz Saeed is operating from Bangladesh, planning attacks in India. He has reportedly encouraged supporters to join jihad, raising alarm among Indian security forces.
Brigadier BK Khanna, a noted security expert, emphasized the seriousness of this situation. He mentioned that after India’s Operation Sindoor against terrorism, extremist organizations are increasingly desperate to operate within India. He expressed confidence in the preparedness of BSF and Assam Rifles to thwart infiltration attempts and stated that central security agencies are collaborating closely to address these threats.
This situation is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced in combating domestic and international terrorism. It underscores the importance of vigilance and cooperation among security agencies to protect citizens from potential threats.
