Let’s dive into some of the most exciting new food spots that made this year delicious! I can’t wait to share upcoming restaurants to watch for in 2026. But for now, let’s spotlight some tasty finds from this past year.
Sandwich Craving? Try the Roast N Toast Special
Roast & Toast Cafe, which opened in January, quickly gained buzz for serving booza, a stretchy Arabic ice cream. But what really impressed me was their Roast N Toast Special sandwich. Packed with turkey, fresh veggies, sundried tomatoes, burrata, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, it’s perfect for sharing. It’s a must-try!
Roast & Toast Cafe, 1746 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley
A Bagel with a Twist: Calabrian Chile Cheese at Bageletto
Bageletto opened in February, and their Calabrian chile cheese bagel is now my go-to. This bagel is so flavorful that it doesn’t need any spreads. For an extra treat, try it with their Studio 54 sandwich, featuring tender roast beef and aioli on your choice of bagel.
Bageletto, 76 14th Street, SF
Burger Bliss: Shoji Burger at Bar Shoji
Since Bar Shoji opened in May, their Shoji Burger has been all over my Instagram feed, and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. This double burger includes Painted Hill beef brisket, American cheese, and caramelized onions, all on a rich brioche bun. At $27, it’s designed for sharing, but every bite is worth it—even if you decide to tackle it solo! They also offer mouthwatering mocktails that elevate the meal.
Bar Shoji, 140 New Montgomery Street, SF
Taco Lovers Unite: Al Pastor at Leo’s Tacos
I was thrilled when Leo’s Tacos, my favorite taco truck from LA, made its way to San Francisco in April. They celebrated with free tacos al pastor, their signature dish. Now you can find them parked on Lincoln and the Great Highway—definitely worth checking out if you love tacos!
Leo’s Tacos, Lincoln and Great Highway, San Francisco and 1990 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo
Incredible Bread: Tano at Paper Son Coffee
Since February, Tano’s pastries at Paper Son Coffee have taken off. Their Korean salt bread is a must! Each pastry has a limit of five per customer, so you’ll want to get there early. For a drink, try the Guava Pillow—a sparkling coffee soda that’s simply delicious!
Tano, Wednesday to Friday 8 am to 2:30 pm at Paper Son Coffee, 303 Second Street, SF
Matcha Marvel: Matcha Mango Shizuku at The Wild Fox
The Wild Fox, which opened in November, features a unique Matcha Mango Shizuku. It’s a blend of milk, mango powder, and a “delicate snowcap.” Matcha has become a trend this year, with many coffee shops seeing rising orders. It’s easy to see why—it’s refreshing and delicious!
The Wild Fox, 123 Battery Street, SF
A Sweet Ending: Giant Slice of Chocolate Cake at Super Mensch
Super Mensch, a charming deli that opened in September, serves a memorable Giant Slice of Chocolate Cake. If you’re a chocolate lover, skipping this dessert would be a mistake. It’s layered and rich—definitely worth a visit!
Super Mensch, 2336 Chestnut Street, San Francisco
As we celebrate these tasty newcomers, it’s clear that San Francisco’s culinary scene is thriving. Each of these spots offers something different, reflecting the city’s diverse tastes and trends. So, gather your friends and explore the delicious options!
