Demi Moore just scored a big win at the SAG Awards for her role in “The Substance.” This marks her third major award this season, adding to her wins at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.
In her heartfelt speech, Moore reflected on her journey. “This is extraordinary and so deeply meaningful,” she said. She shared how she joined the Screen Actors Guild in 1978 at just 15 years old. “It changed my life. It gave me meaning and direction,” she recalled. She emphasized the importance of learning from others in the industry, noting, “You have all been my greatest teachers.” Moore expressed gratitude for her team, without whom she couldn’t continue her career.
Moore also encouraged young actors to value connection. “As I watched and learned, it was the casting directors, directors, and producers who got me into the room. Your feedback meant everything,” she said. She reminded them not to lose sight of the human aspect of acting.
This year, Moore faced tough competition for the SAG Award from Pamela Anderson, Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Mikey Madison. Although she leads in awards this season, Madison remains a strong contender after her BAFTA win. Historically, the SAG winners often differ from the Academy Awards winners, making the Oscars an exciting watch.
Moore’s performance in “The Substance” has drawn praise since its premiere at Cannes last year. She plays Elizabeth Sparkle, a former star who takes an experimental serum to revive her fading fame. During her Critics’ Choice Awards acceptance speech, Moore highlighted the film’s significance within the horror genre, stating, “Normally, horror films are overlooked for their depth.”
Next up for Moore is the Oscars on Sunday, March 2. Fans are eager to see if she can take home another award for her captivating performance.
