Demi Moore Warns: The Film Industry Can’t Stop the Rise of Artificial Intelligence

Demi Moore recently shared her thoughts on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in Hollywood. Speaking at a Cannes press conference, she emphasized that resisting AI may be futile. Instead, she suggested finding ways to collaborate with it. “To fight it is to fight something that we will lose,” she noted.

Moore did express concerns about safety in the rising tech landscape, admitting she wasn’t sure if enough is being done to protect individuals. She pointed out that while AI can enhance creativity in beautiful ways, it can never replace genuine human touch and emotion. “True art comes from our souls, which AI can’t recreate,” she said.

This mirrors what some experts believe. According to a study by McKinsey, 70% of companies are exploring AI to enhance creativity and efficiency. While AI can assist in tasks, the unique human perspective in art is irreplaceable. This sentiment was echoed by other filmmakers at the conference, including Park Chan-wook. He stated that art and politics are not enemies, and the two should coexist.

Moore further commented on the freedom of expression in art, stressing that censorship stifles creativity. She echoed concerns about the entertainment industry’s treatment of those who speak out on political issues. Paul Laverty, a prominent UK screenwriter, criticized Hollywood for sidelining artists who support human rights causes, pointing out examples of blacklisted actors like Susan Sarandon and Mark Ruffalo.

AI might be here to stay, but it should serve as a tool to enhance artistic expression rather than a replacement for the heartfelt stories that only humans can tell. The conversation at Cannes highlights a critical crossroads in storytelling, where technology and human experience must learn to work together.
