House Democrats recently made a significant move by requesting the “birthday book” of Jeffrey Epstein from his estate. This book reportedly includes a crude poem and doodle from former President Donald Trump, celebrating Epstein’s 50th birthday. In a letter to Epstein’s estate, Representatives Ro Khanna and Robert Garcia emphasized that the book’s contents could shed light on the Trump administration’s approach to the Epstein scandal. They asked for a complete, unredacted copy by August 10.
Khanna stressed the importance of transparency, saying, “The public deserves to know the truth.” His statement comes as Congress left for recess without addressing a bipartisan bill aimed at releasing Epstein-related documents.
The birthday book was compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s long-time associate, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in his crimes. It reportedly contains birthday messages from many powerful figures, including Trump, Bill Clinton, and others. An image of Maxwell’s dedication in the book was recently published, drawing even more public interest.
Trump is currently in a legal battle with the Wall Street Journal over its report that he contributed a page to the book. He claims the dialogue between him and Epstein, along with a sketch included, is “fake and nonexistent.”
Brad Edwards, a lawyer representing many of Epstein’s survivors, noted that the estate has the book and is likely to comply with the request. He mentioned on MSNBC that the executors are aware of its contents.
Garcia pointed out that the American people have a right to know who was involved in Epstein’s network and whether they still hold influential positions.
The controversy surrounding the Epstein files has caused friction within Trump’s base, who have called for more disclosure. While Trump stated he distanced himself from Epstein in 2004, he has not faced any accusations related to Epstein’s illegal activities.
Recently, reports surfaced that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi briefed Trump about his name appearing multiple times in Epstein-related files. In response, Trump asked Bondi to seek the release of grand jury transcripts, though a judge in Florida recently rejected the request.
Given the ongoing interest in the Epstein case, many are closely watching how the Democrats will use this letter to push for greater accountability in the handling of the investigation. The outcome could carry significant implications for both current and future political dynamics.
