DePaul’s softball team secured a 6-3 victory over UIC at Flames Field, marking an exciting crosstown clash. The Blue Demons energized early, pushing ahead and fending off a late challenge from the Flames.

Sophomore right fielder Jolie Adams stole the show, hitting 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Lydia Ettema contributed significantly, driving in three runs with two hits, while Morgan Rogers enjoyed a strong game, reaching base three times and scoring three runs. Chelsea Parker also made her mark with a hit and an RBI, bringing her total to a team-high of 35 runs driven in.

On the mound, Kelly Greene started strong, allowing just one earned run and three hits over 2.2 innings. After a brief transition, Hannah Messer took over, followed by Bella Nigey. Greene returned in the sixth inning, holding the lead to earn her fourth win of the season.

Game Highlights

The action kicked off when Rogers hit a double, advancing to third on a passed ball. Adams quickly capitalized, scoring Rogers with a base hit. Parker’s subsequent error allowed Ettema to double, adding another run. DePaul continued to build on their lead, ending the second inning up 3-0 after Adams drove in another run.

UIC pushed back in the third, scoring after a single and a series of strategic plays, cutting DePaul’s lead to 3-1. The Flames tied the game in the fifth, thanks to four consecutive hits, showing their determination.

However, DePaul wasn’t done. In the seventh inning, with Rogers walking to start the action, Parker’s double and Ettema’s powerful home run secured a 6-3 victory for the Blue Demons.

DePaul is headed to South Orange, New Jersey, for a three-game series against BIG EAST rival Seton Hall from April 17-19, all streamed live on ESPN+.
