CHICAGO – The DePaul softball team faced Butler on Sunday and lost their final home game of the 2026 season, 6-0, at Cacciatore Stadium.
The Blue Demons managed just three hits. Sophomores Zoe Levine and Jolie Adams both got hits in the third and fourth innings, while junior Brooke Cwick hit in the seventh as a pinch hitter.
In the pitcher’s circle, senior Bella Nigey started and struck out three batters in 3.2 innings. Sophomore Hannah Messer relieved her for 0.1 inning, and senior Kelly Greene wrapped up the game with three scoreless innings.
Butler got ahead early in the first inning with two hits. They added another run with a solo home run in the third. Levine’s hit in the bottom of the third gave DePaul their first opportunity, but they couldn’t capitalize.
In the fourth, Butler scored four more runs, bringing their total to 6-0. DePaul attempted a comeback in the bottom of the fourth after Adams hit a single, followed by a walk to Chelsea Parker. However, a double play ended that threat.
Cwick’s single in the seventh gave DePaul a glimmer of hope, but they couldn’t score, sealing Butler’s victory at 6-0.
DePaul’s next game will be a nonconference match against Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, on April 29. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and will stream on the ACC Network.
