Reading, PA (March 1, 2025) – The DeSales University women’s track and field team placed seventh at the MAC Indoor Championships held at Alvernia University over the weekend.
First-year athlete Brooke Signorella shone brightly, qualifying for the AARTFC Championships. She took third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.93 seconds, marking the fastest time for the team this season. Brooke also participated in the triple jump, where she finished fourth with a leap of 11.11 meters, earning a spot at the AARTFC Championships.
Another standout was first-year runner Ellie Kozich, who qualified for the AARTFC Championships as well. She secured second place in the 5,000 meters, clocking in at 17:47.15, which earned the Bulldogs eight crucial team points. Ellie also competed in the 3,000 meters, finishing third with a time of 10:23.33, qualifying her for the AARTFC as well.
First-year Kay Wiscount also made an impression, qualifying in the 800 meters by placing third with a time of 2:19.59, contributing six team points. Sophomore Avery Pelusak achieved a personal best in the 400 meters, finishing eighth with a time of 1:02.37, overall the best time for the team this season.
In the long jump, sophomore Catherine Crampton soared to fourth place with a 5.07-meter jump, earning four points for the team, while Signorella placed eighth with a jump of 4.98 meters, adding another point.
Additionally, the women’s 4,000-meter distance medley relay team qualified for the AARTFC Championships, finishing sixth and bringing in three team points.
Overall, DeSales University accumulated 55 points, which resulted in a tie for seventh place in the MAC Indoor Championships. The efforts of these athletes showcase the promise and potential of the team as they move forward into the season.
