Bungie has answered many questions from players about Destiny 2 following the reveal of the Year of Prophecy. This new chapter starts with the Edge of Fate expansion set to launch on July 15, 2025, followed by Renegades in December.
These expansions introduce new gameplay features and content, shifting to two paid expansions each year. While excitement is high, some players have voiced concerns, especially regarding the Renegades expansion, which has a unique collaboration with Lucasfilm.
Here are the main updates and clarifications that Bungie has provided:
Renegades is a Canon Story: Many fans compared Renegades to Star Wars. However, Bungie’s Assistant Game Director Robbie Stevens assured players that this expansion will still fit within the Destiny universe. It uses beloved characters and lore, while mixing in a different aesthetic.
Vault Space Updates: Players hoped for more vault space with Edge of Fate, but Bungie confirmed that this won’t happen just yet. They plan to introduce vault space upgrades later in the year with Renegades.
Director and Portal Features: The Director map isn’t going away. Bungie stated that it will still be accessible with a new “Worlds” tab. A new Portal feature will help players navigate through upcoming content easily.
Power Level Refresh: Some players noticed gear with a low Power rating. Bungie confirmed that all players will see their Power levels reset when Edge of Fate launches. More details on this will follow in upcoming updates.
Reward Pass Pricing: The Year of Prophecy Reward Passes will each cost 1000 Silver, offering various cosmetics and exotic weapons, similar to previous seasonal passes.
Bungie emphasized that this information is just the starting point. They will continue to provide updates through blogs, interviews, and livestreams leading up to the launch.
Interestingly, there’s ongoing legal trouble involving Bungie. A writer has accused the company of allegedly copying material for previous Destiny 2 campaigns. As the game evolves, it will be interesting to see how this impacts its community engagement and storytelling.
