Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor is back with his new action movie, Deva. This film marks the directorial debut of Rosshan Andrrews in Hindi cinema. It tells the story of Dev Ambre, a bold police officer who navigates the complexities of human nature.
Set in the vibrant city of Mumbai, the film beautifully contrasts the city’s charm with its darker undertones. Shahid is joined by leading lady Pooja Hegde, along with a talented supporting cast that includes Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana, Girish Kulkarni, Kubbra Sait, and Aditi Sandhya Sharma.
Fans are already comparing Deva to Shahid’s previous role as Kabir Singh. However, Shahid emphasized that Deva is a unique character. He mentioned, "It’s an aggressive character, but Deva is very Deva—there is no Kabir Singh in it."
Pooja Hegde shared her excitement about the film, stating that she chose the role because it resonated with her as an actor. "I have decided to take on roles that make my soul happy," she said.
Originally set to release on 11 October 2024, the movie’s date changed several times. It is now scheduled to hit theaters on 31 January 2025, just in time for the Valentine’s Day weekend.
Box office predictions are cautious, with estimates suggesting an opening day collection between Rs 5-10 crore. Advance ticket sales are around Rs 1.7 crore, and gross collections, which include block bookings, are expected to reach approximately Rs 3.5 crore. Much will depend on the audience’s reaction and word of mouth to boost its success over the inaugural weekend.
The film’s music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, with contributions from Vishal Mishra, while cinematography is by Amit Roy and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad.
