A bright star in the Andromeda Galaxy has mysteriously vanished. Astronomers suggest it may have collapsed into a black hole.
Kishalay De, an astronomer from Columbia University, explains, “It used to be one of the brightest stars here, but now it can’t be seen even with the best telescopes.” This disappearance was highlighted in the journal Science, where De and his team analyzed data from NASA’s NEOWISE spacecraft collected over 15 years.
