Discover 8 New Indian Consular Application Centres Opened Across the US: Your Gateway to Hassle-Free Visa and Passport Services!

India is making big strides in the U.S. with the launch of eight new Indian Consular Application Centres. This expansion aims to improve access to essential services like visas and passports for the Indian community across America.

India’s Ambassador to the U.S., Vinay Kwatra, inaugurated these centres in cities like Boston, Dallas, and San Jose. By August 1, 2025, all consular services will be provided through VFS Global Centres, bringing the total to 17 across the country. This change makes it easier for both Indian and American citizens to access vital services.

Kwatra noted the significance of this expansion, reflecting the strong bond between India and its diaspora, which consists of nearly five million people in the U.S. He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi values the diaspora as India’s “strongest brand ambassador.” The new centres aim to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Recent studies show the Indian-American community is increasingly engaged in various sectors, contributing to U.S. culture, innovation, and economics. Between 2010 and 2020, the Indian population in the U.S. grew by over 100%, making their presence vital in shaping the national narrative.

Kwatra expressed confidence that these centres will not only aid the diaspora but also foster deeper engagement between both countries. Each centre will operate six days a week, including Saturdays—an unprecedented move by the Indian consulate. This schedule aims to accommodate people’s work lives and provide valuable assistance without disruptions.

VFS Global’s North America Head, Amit Kumar Sharma, emphasized the commitment to making the application process convenient and comfortable. By working closely with 70 governments globally, they aim to enhance service delivery and responsiveness for the Indian community.

As India’s relationship with the U.S. evolves, the planned opening of additional consulates in Boston and Los Angeles signals a growing diplomatic presence. These efforts underline the need for expanded consular support in line with the deepening India-U.S. partnership.

Overall, these new centres illustrate a significant step toward enhancing service accessibility and reflecting the dynamic relationship between India and the United States.
