Butler County, Ohio, is making strides in accessibility for travelers. It is now Ohio’s first location to join the Wheel the World’s Destination Verified program. This initiative focuses on creating travel experiences that everyone can enjoy, regardless of their abilities.

Arturo Gaona from Wheel the World expressed excitement about the partnership with Travel Butler County. The program aims to help the millions of travelers with disabilities, as well as their families. “We’re on a mission to make travel accessible and enjoyable for all,” he said.

Wheel the World (wheeltheworld.com) is an online agency dedicated to helping people with disabilities find and book trips to places that can be hard to access.

Through this program, Wheel the World collaborated with Travel Butler County to assess over 70 local hotels, attractions, and businesses. An expert mapper evaluated these locations for their accessibility features, making it easier for travelers to plan their visits.

Tracy Kocher, the president of Travel Butler County, shared her enthusiasm about this recognition. She believes it reflects a significant step toward improving the travel experience for everyone, allowing visitors to explore Butler County with assurance and ease.

Once a place is marked as “Destination Verified,” travelers can access specific details about its accessibility. More than 100 factors are considered in the assessment, including the ease of movement, signage, and accommodations for various needs.

Kathryn Rawlinson, another representative from Travel Butler County, highlighted how this milestone enhances local tourism and welcomes all travelers to the area. She stated that removing obstacles allows more visitors to enjoy the community, create cherished memories, and support local businesses.
