Discover Apopka’s First Food Hall: A Culinary Gem in a Historic Landmark

Apopka, Florida, is buzzing with excitement over its newest attraction: Hall’s On 5th, the city’s first food hall. This vibrant space is housed in a nearly 100-year-old building that once served as Hall’s Feed Store.

With six unique food vendors, a bar, and a private dining area, Hall’s On 5th offers a little something for everyone. Co-owner Ella Duke, who moved to Apopka from Downtown Orlando, was inspired by the success of local food scenes and wanted to create a similar experience for residents. “Apopka really needed this,” she shares. “We’re thrilled to provide something the community has been asking for.”

Among the vendors is Mario Penaherrera, who runs Butcher’s Nook. This is his first endeavor in a food hall. He finds joy in being part of a larger collective, sharing his culinary creations with a wider audience. “It’s fun to be part of something bigger,” he says.

Since opening last month, the food hall has started transforming downtown Apopka. Mayor Bryan Nelson reflects on the historical significance, noting that Hall’s Feed Store was the second oldest business in the area. “I remember going in there as a kid for dog food and hay,” he recalls.

Duke emphasizes the importance of preserving the building’s history. Many original elements, like the old floorboards and photographs, have been retained. The iconic 1928 “Hall’s Feed” sign still proudly hangs, a tribute to the building’s rich past. “We wanted to honor the legacy of this place,” Duke explains.

Food halls are trending across the U.S. A recent survey found that 34% of consumers prefer dining at food halls over traditional restaurants due to the variety and communal atmosphere they offer. As more communities adopt this model, Hall’s On 5th is well-positioned to thrive.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Hall’s On 5th invites you to explore Apopka’s delicious new hotspot. It’s more than just food; it’s a celebration of community and history.
