Exciting news for barbecue lovers! A new location of The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque is set to open soon in the Arlington Entertainment District. This popular barbecue family from North Texas is bringing its delicious offerings near Interstate 30, marking another milestone in their legacy.

The new restaurant will be at 1600 E. Copeland Road, in a 7,900-square-foot space that used to be a Texas Land & Cattle Co. establishment. Zack Hutchins, the director of operations, confirmed that renovations are underway. The venue will feature a spacious covered patio and a top-notch pit room. They aim to open by this summer.

“We’re super excited about this opportunity,” Zack shared. “We’ve been watching that location for a while. When it finally became available, we jumped at the chance.”

The Hutchins family has been slow-smoking barbecue since 1978, starting with Roy’s Smokehouse in Princeton. Their commitment to quality barbecue has built a dedicated following over the years. The first Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque opened in Trophy Club a couple of years ago and quickly became a favorite.

Chris Carroll, who previously owned a barbecue restaurant at the same Arlington location, has confidence in the Hutchins brand. “They do a wonderful job,” he said. “I’ve known the family for years.”

The Hutchins family, while operating separate restaurants now, remains close. They celebrate holidays together and support one another’s success. Zack noted, “At the end of the day, it’s all the same family.”

Arlington already boasts a variety of barbecue joints, including Lockhart Smokehouse and Hurtado Barbecue, making it a great spot for barbecue enthusiasts.

The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque in Trophy Club features a Hill Country-style design and offers a vibrant atmosphere. Zack and his colleague, Israel Silva, are devoted to keeping Roy’s legacy alive. They have a deep love for barbecue, which extends beyond their restaurant. They have participated in events such as the Texas Monthly BBQ Fest and served at prestigious venues like the James Beard House.

TikTok food critic Keith Lee praised the flavors at the Original Roy Hutchins, giving it a 9 out of 10 rating. The restaurant also recently announced it will be the official barbecue vendor at the Texas Motor Speedway, further expanding its reach.

As for the Arlington menu, Zack mentioned they are still fine-tuning it. “Arlington is a prime spot,” he said. “It draws in a lot of people from all over. We’re looking forward to serving them.”
