In 2021, Sainsbury’s Holborn Circus Local became a mobile-first store, adopting Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology for a checkout-free experience.

Clo Moriarty, Sainsbury’s Retail and Digital Director, expressed enthusiasm about making shopping smooth and hassle-free. The SmartShop Pick & Go aimed to offer a new level of convenience for customers.

Dilip Kumar, Amazon’s Vice President of Physical Retail and Technology, shared excitement over bringing this innovative tech to London shoppers. He highlighted the ease of shopping without traditional checkout lines.

However, the pilot program has come to an end. Holborn Circus has now returned to a standard layout featuring traditional checkouts, including a customer kiosk and self-service stations. Shoppers can still use the SmartShop mobile service to pay.

Just Eat partners with Fleurop for fast flower delivery in Switzerland

Just Eat Takeaway.com has expanded its collaboration with Interflora/Fleurop into Switzerland.

Now, customers in cities like Basel, Bern, and Zurich can order flowers and plants from 39 Fleurop locations. More cities will join the service soon.

Lukas Streich, Country Manager at Just Eat Switzerland, stated their aim is to provide everything available in towns and deliver it within 45 minutes. This effort is all about simplifying everyday life for customers.

This pilot explores how RFID can improve inventory visibility in one of On’s warehouses. Verity’s AI-driven system currently provides insights in over 100 global warehouses, but tracking items beyond sight has been a challenge.

By using RFID, Verity can now track items more precisely, identifying products at every step in the warehouse. Their drones navigate aisles, scanning RFID tags with an impressive accuracy rate and speed.
