Discover Benalmádena’s Exciting New Hiking Initiative: Inspiring Healthy Habits for Young Adventurers!

Benalmádena has launched an exciting hiking program called “Benalmádena in Your Boots.” This initiative encourages outdoor activity, healthy habits, and mental well-being—all while connecting with nature.

Organized by the town’s youth department, the program features three hiking trails designed for various skill levels. The first hike kicks off on Sunday, March 22, along the Minas de la Trinidad trail.

The second hike will take place on April 12, following the Tajo del Quejigal trail. The final hike is scheduled for May 3 and will combine the Tajo del Quejigal with the Sendero de los Cazadores.

Students from the town’s sociocultural and tourism course will help organize and manage the events. Youth councillor Lucía Camero emphasizes, “We want to offer our young people a chance to discover the natural beauty of our area and foster a connection with their surroundings.”

This initiative not only promotes physical health but also supports mental well-being. Studies show that spending time in nature can significantly reduce stress and anxiety, making programs like this essential for community health. According to recent research published by the American Psychological Association, just a 20-minute walk in a natural setting can improve mood and cognitive function.
