Birmingham is buzzing as Southern Living’s Food & Fire event returns to Sloss Furnaces this Saturday. This is the third year of the festival, part of the Southbound Food Festival. From noon to 4 p.m., 30 talented open-fire chefs and pitmasters from around the South will showcase their skills. Organizers expect over 1,600 guests ready to dive into delicious food, enjoy live music, and soak in the Southern tailgate vibe.

David Bancroft, a renowned chef from Acre and Bow and Arrow BBQ, is excited about the event. He said, “Cooking with top chefs here pushes you to be the best.” This sentiment reflects the growing reputation of Birmingham as a culinary hotspot.

This year, attendees can savor fresh oysters cooked over open flames, along with tasty tailgate bites. The Coca-Cola Music Stage will keep the energy high with live performances, while SEC football plays on a big screen. To top it off, a white sauce challenge will take place at Southern Living’s Tailgate Stage.

Bancroft describes the atmosphere as electric—“You have smoke and grills, fresh beers, and amazing food. It’s the perfect environment!” In its first year, Food & Fire was ranked among the top 10 new festivals in the U.S.
