The City of Casselberry recently organized a delightful event called Casselberry Food Trucks, featuring music, vibrant art, and a variety of delicious food options.
At the event, attendees enjoyed tasty offerings from local food trucks that served everything from tacos and burgers to homemade ice cream and s’mores. A highlight was Sugar Rush Marshmallows, a food truck run by Jean and Julie Summers.
Jean and Julie have been in the marshmallow business for nearly ten years. The couple met while teaching English in Korea and quickly bonded over a shared love for sweets. They started making marshmallows to share with friends and family. After much encouragement, they decided to turn their passion into a business.
“Initially, it all began as a fun side project. But it took off from there,” Jean recalls. Their flavors are creative, featuring options like bourbon, sriracha, and a unique “s’moreo.” They also use local ingredients whenever possible, like strawberries from the Florida Strawberry Festival.
Their menu is rich with American-style desserts, including banana pudding and oatmeal cream pies, with prices ranging from five to twelve dollars.
“Our goal is to evoke nostalgia,” Jean explains. “We want people to relive simple joys—like messy fingers from a s’more.” The couple embraces a mobile lifestyle, traveling around Central Florida to spread happiness, one dessert at a time.
When you order a s’more, you can choose two flavors of marshmallow. Each treat is crafted with care, and they even provide free wet wipes for that fun, messy experience.
Sugar Rush Marshmallows can be found at local farmer’s markets, such as the Orlando Farmers Market on Sundays and Audubon Park Community Market on Mondays. With nearly all ingredients made from scratch, Jean and Julie continue to create joy through their marshmallow treats, offering a touch of childlike wonder to everyone they meet.
In today’s food market, trends show a growing preference for local and artisanal offerings. According to a recent survey by the National Restaurant Association, nearly 70% of consumers prioritize fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Sweet treats like those from Sugar Rush Marshmallows are tapping into that desire, combining nostalgia with quality.
By keeping their offerings fresh and tying in local flavors, Sugar Rush not only satisfies appetites but also builds community connections—one s’more at a time.
