Discover Emerging Talent: Young Bands Shine at TACAW’s Unforgettable Showcase!

The Arts Campus at Willits is hosting its first Teen Night tonight, specifically designed for ages 13 to 18. This event will showcase live music from local teen bands, giving young adults a chance to connect through performances by their peers.

This evening’s lineup includes several exciting acts. The Jazz Aspen Street Horns will kick things off at 6:30 p.m., followed by MULE, and more bands throughout the night. The final act, Fotostatic, is set to conclude the show at 8:45 p.m.

Food options will be available for attendees, including mac and cheese for just $5 and cookies for $2, or both for $6. Not only is this event a great opportunity for teens to enjoy live music, but it’s also a platform for young talent.

MULE is a standout band in this lineup, featuring singer Lana Greengrass, drummer Noah Wolfson, bass player Edie Obyrne, and guitarist Eli Sorenson. The band formed in 2018 when Greengrass and Wolfson discovered their shared musical interests during their friendship. They started playing music together, which eventually led to the creation of MULE.

The band’s very first jam was to “Self Esteem” by The Offspring. Wolfson initially played guitar but switched to drums and now does both. Obyrne and Sorenson also play in Fotostatic, showing how interconnected these young musicians are.

Greengrass described how Obyrne joined the band after a recent performance, while she met Sorenson through Instagram. Despite Wolfson’s family moving to California, he flew back just for this show, showcasing his commitment to the band.

At tonight’s performance, MULE will mostly perform cover songs, including tracks from Nirvana and No Doubt, along with one of their original songs. Greengrass expressed her desire to shift towards an original set in the future. Recently, she was invited by an artist named D4vid to join him on stage in Houston, a big opportunity she is very excited about.

When asked about their goals for tonight’s performance, Wolfson shared that he hopes to introduce more people to grunge music. Greengrass added that above all, she wants everyone to have a good time. They’re looking to create an engaging atmosphere where the music can truly shine.
